College Celebration

harvestmkt.jpgOn Friday, October 9, 2009 the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will bestow the Awards of Distinction at its 21st annual College Celebration. The event is held each year at harvest time to celebrate the advancement and accomplishments of our college and its impact on agriculture and the environment.

The Award of Distinction is the highest recognition presented by the college to individuals whose contributions and achievements enrich the image and reputation of the college and enhance its ability to provide public service.

This year’s recipients are:

  • John Bruhn, Faculty
  • Martha Guzman Aceves, Young Alumni
  • Tom Kaiser, Staff
  • Gurdev Khush, Alumni
  • James R. Lugg, Friend
  • Fritz Maytag, Friend
  • Mary Patterson, Friend
  • Howard-Yana Shapiro, Friend
  • Ann Veneman, Friend

 

Treat yourself to a delightful outing with delicious hors d'oeuvres and excellent wines. The evening culminates with a Farmer's Market where attendees dismantle the "welcome display" and take home a bag packed full of California's freshest produce and grains.

2009 Walker Award Recipient: Joan Chandler
June 19, 2009

Joan Chandler, lecturer and staff research associate in the Division of Textiles and Clothing, received the Walker Award this June. The award honors the year’s most outstanding academic adviser as nominated by his or her students and co-workers.
